Grand Chief, Lloyd Phillips attending AFN Special Chiefs Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Ratsénhaienhs Lloyd Phillips will be attending the Assembly of First Nations Special Chiefs’ Assembly taking place in Ottawa from Tuesday through Thursday (December 4th to 6th).

Agenda items include Languages; Child Welfare; Education; Environment; Fiscal Relations; and Housing. An update on Cannabis is scheduled for Wednesday, and the final report on Rights Recognition will be presented on Thursday.

The Chiefs will return to the office on Friday, December 7th.
