Kahnawake to support Chateauguay bid for Quebec Games

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that a letter of support has been sent to the mayor of Chateauguay for that city′s bid to host the Quebec Games in August 2022.
The Quebec Games bring $12 million in spinoff revenue to the communities which host, as well as the potential of legacy infrastructure from Sports Quebec. The competitions will take place in Chateauguay, Mercier, Beauharnois, and specifically baseball in Kahnawà:ke.
"We are really excited to be collaborating on this project and forging a new relationship with Chateauguay," said Ratsénhaienhs Carl Horn. "This will be the start of great things for the youth of both of our communities.”
Over 3,300 athletes from 19 regions of the province attend this 9-day event. There will be competition in 18 sports and 3 exhibition sports for male and female athletes between the ages of 12 and 17 years.
"The Recreation Department looks forward to working on this and other recreational opportunities with the City of Chateauguay," said Mackenzie Whyte, General Manager of Recreation.
Bid selection and the announcement of the winning community will take place in December 2019.
