Coyote remains found on Route 138
04/26/2019
The Animal Protection Department (AP) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising the community that coyote remains were found alongside Route 138 near the Mohawk Super Bingo.
At 8:50am, the animal was dropped off at AP after it was hit by a vehicle. The carcass will be tested for rabies and AP officers will be searching the nearby area to ensure there are no other animals.
Although coyotes frequent the woodland areas of the Territory, this is a rare occurrence where one wandered close to the village area. Of note, this was a younger coyote (approximately 1 year old) so there is an increased likelihood of a sibling or mother nearby.
If you spot a coyote, avoid contact and report it to Animal Protection at 450-632-0635.
