Responsible Recycling is IMPORTANT

05/17/2019

The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to remind residents of the need to follow the ‘acceptable materials’ guidelines for items deposited in recycling bins for pick-up.

Only items described in the list of ‘acceptable materials’ should be placed in the bins:
  • Glass bottles & jars
  • Metal cans & containers
  • Plastic Containers
  • Plastic bags (wrapped together)
  • Milk & Juice Cartons
  • Newspaper & Paper products (Cardboard is for special collection)
The list of acceptable and non-acceptable materials can be found online at kahnawake.com/wastemanagement or on Facebook by searching “ recyclinginkahnawake ”.

Unacceptable; corrosive, explosive or flammable materials. Unacceptable materials deposited into the bins for collection by the recycling truck can cause serious injury to the operator. These materials could damage, jam or even contaminate the vehicle and cause delays in service. Most importantly, be mindful of the safety of the truck operator should the contents catch fire. Should an incident occur, you could be held responsible.

Please recycle responsibly and be cautious of what goes into your bin. Responsible Recycling is IMPORTANT!

If you have questions, please contact the Waste Management Department at 450-632-5825.
