06/26/2019
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that the draft Tioweró:ton Development and Cabin Ownership Procedure (“the Procedure”) document has been made available to the public and a 30-day Community Review is beginning immediately.
The purpose of creating the Procedure is to establish an improved process to obtain a Cabin Site in the Tioweró:ton Territory, including the transfer or sale of a Cabin Interest.
The purpose is also to establish an orderly process for the development and use of the Territory, which respects the applicable environmental norms and standards.
The 27-page draft Procedure is very detailed, and covers all aspects of cabin ownership, such as site selection, approval process, construction standards, landfilling, and conservation measures.
The document is available on www.kahnawake.com. Community members may submit their comments to feedback@mck.ca which goes to MCK Public Relations.
All feedback from the review will be sent to the Tioweró:ton Committee on July 26th. Names and email addresses will be kept anonymous.
Comments and suggestions will be accepted until 4pm on Thursday, July 25th. The results of the consultation will be compiled, and a report prepared for the public.
