Mock Session III Recap
05/23/2008
The third and final “Mock Session” for the new Community Decision Making Process was held last evening at the Community Room located at the Peacekeepers Station.
Four people attended, along with Grand Chief Michael Ahríhrhon Delisle, Jr, Chief John Dee Delormier and several technicians.
“While the turnout was obviously disappointing, the discussion was both enthusiastic and very useful,” said Chief Delormier. “We now begin the real work: creating laws together as a collective.”
Now that the initial phase is completed, revisions will be made to improve the process based on input received from those attending the Mock sessions. When completed, these will be presented to Chief & Council and the community. Afterward, all laws proposed, created or amended will go through the new process. There are currently four proposed pieces of legislation that have been put forward. Chief and Council will be determining priorities shortly.
“The community can expect news on this within weeks, not months, “ said Chief Delormier. “We will ensure that Kahnawa’kehró:non are kept informed on each and every development of this historic initiative.”
