MCK offers condolences on passing of Josephine Curotte

07/15/2019

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to offer its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Josephine Curotte, who passed away Saturday, July 13th at the age of 67.

Ms. Curotte was a Justice of the Peace for the Court of Kahnawà:ke since 1993, and one of only two active Justices since 2006.

“She was a strong, independent decision-maker who was always fair in her final judgments,” said Commissioner of Justice Kevin Fleischer. “Her continued participation as a Justice of the Peace, at a time when no further section 107 Indian Act appointments are being made, has played a major role in maintaining our court. She will be missed.”
