Infrastructure Rehabilitation
05/27/2008
The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform all Kahnawa’kehró:non of an infrastructure rehabilitation project in the area of Mikie’s Taxi and Saylor’s Market (see attachment). The work is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 28th and continue until August 2008.
This project will include repairs to the existing water and sanitary sewer systems, installation of a new surface drainage system and concrete curbs. Upon completion the road will be resurfaced with new asphalt.
Residents in the area may be inconvenienced with temporary loss of water, dust and noise from trucks and equipment, detours and temporary road closures. Residents will be notified at least one day prior to having the water turned off. Proper road signalization will be installed to warn of the construction limits. The community will also be notified when a road closure is scheduled.
During construction, alignment-pins will be installed (steel rods marked with orange ribbon) along the roadway. These pins do not indicate the edge of the new road. The new road edge is five feet from the pin, away from the property line. This means that during construction the roadway will appear wider than actually planned. At no point does the road infringe on private property. All private properties that are affected by the work in this area (e.g. driveways, walkways, hedges and/or fences) will be repaired or replaced prior to completion of the project.
Your patience throughout this project is greatly appreciated. Please contact the Technical Services Office at 635-1016 if further information or special needs are required.
