Notice of additional works on Mercier Bridge
08/14/2019
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Jacques Cartier-Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) will begin painting works on the south shore section of the Mercier Bridge.
The works, which includes the cleaning and painting of steel elements on the Montreal-bound section at the top of the up-ramp, will be performed by the Mohawk Bridge Consortium. It will result in the closure of access to the service road between the Kahnawà:ke-bound 138 down ramp span and Montreal-bound 138 up ramp span (see map). It is important to note that this should only affect residents who live on the ‘Kanawaki’ road located directly besides the CP Rail tracks. The service road under and between the ramps near JoJo’s Pawn Shop will remain open.
Temporary trailers to be used specifically for this project will be erected in the area, basically in the same configuration as a similar one located on the North Wall.
Finally, a Pedestrian Walkway will be created at the area where the access is closed. The walkway will be fenced in; it will also be covered and protected where it passes under the span. Appropriate signage and signalization will be in place in the affected area.
