Dreams Take Flight takes flight tonight

11/05/2019

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that six children from Kahnawą:ke and four from Akwesasne will be among 207 kids who will board an Air Canada 787 Dreamliner tonight to visit Disney World in Orlando, Florida – courtesy of Dreams Take Flight.

Tonight’s flight, which actually leaves early tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, will see the children climb about the plane in the wee hours of the night for their exciting adventure to visit Mickey and Minnie Mouse and all their friends. It will be the sixteenth consecutive year that children from Kahnawą:ke have been selected to participate.

The Kahnawą:ke Fire Brigade, the Kahnawą:ke Mohawk Peacekeepers and MCK participated in a pre-flight party for the kids held at the Air Canada Technical Center at Trudeau International Airport on October 26th.

Dreams Take Flight is a volunteer-based charitable organization dedicated to providing a magical experience to disadvantaged children. There is no cost to the kids or their families. This will be the 25th flight organized by the Montreal chapter, which is one of eight across Canada. The Kahnawą:ke children are selected by Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services based on requirements and standards set by the Dreams Take Flight organization.

It is expected that the children will return at approximately 1am on Thursday morning, after a day filled with adventure – a day they will never forget!
