Iroquois Caucus and AFNQL meetings underway

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Iroquois Caucus is meeting in Ottawa today and tomorrow. Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Nitsénhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer and Frankie McComber are attending.
Agenda items include the Harvesting Working Group; Cannabis; Nuclear Waste Working Group; Border Crossing; and S-3 Amendments to the Indian Act. Additionally, the relationships between the Iroquois Caucus and various Traditional bodies, the Assembly of First Nations, and the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) will be discussed.
Meanwhile, Nitsénhaienhs Clinton Phillips and Cody Diabo are in Lac Beauport, Quebec, to participate in the AFNQL Assembly of Chiefs meetings today and tomorrow.
Agenda items at the AFNQL meetings include Political intervention strategies regarding positions taken by the Quebec government; Political relationships with the Federal Government following the recent election, and Taxation matters.
