MCK Holiday Message to the Community
12/19/2019
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to take this opportunity to wish all Kahnawa’kehró:non a happy and safe Holiday Season and all the best in the New Year.
We sincerely hope that people will take the time to connect, or reconnect, with family and friends during this time. This year has been very difficult for many with the loss of family, friends and colleagues. It has become very clear that, as a community, we have work to do to address issues that challenge us as a society. We need to look to our elders to provide guidance and wisdom. We must learn to be better listeners, and not just talk at each other. We all share in the responsibility to raise our children in a safe and happy community.
Collectively we must make a commitment that 2020 will be a better year for all of us as Kanien’kehá:ka people – for unity gives us strength. And, importantly, let us not forget the many blessings that we have in this wonderful place that we call Kahnawà:ke. Wishing you all joy and happiness this Holiday Season.
