MCK Announces Special Project
06/03/2008
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke has announced the start of a special project designed to gain input in planning the direction of the community for the future.
The project itself, entitled My Vision of Kahnawą:ke, will consist of essays prepared by community members, suitable for publication. The essay would be each persons dialogue with the community of Kahnawą:ke and would address any subject from the writers area of expertise, projecting his/her wishes or changes that he/she believes would improve our communitys life in the future.
A community awareness campaign will be utilized to advise community members of this unique opportunity. It is hoped that essays could be published starting in Ohiarikó:wa/July.
The fact that Kahnawą:ke has so many capable and gifted individuals with ideas that can work leads us to ask for the communitys participation in this novel project, said Coordinator Christine Deom. We would hope that you would consider the value of your thoughts as a contribution to our future.
Essays should be between 500 - 1000 words with a due date of July 15th. It is hoped that a significant number of Kahnawakehró:non will accept the challenge. Anyone interested is asked to contact Dodie Gilbert of the MCKs Office of the Council of Chiefs at 450-632-7500 (extension 270).
