Snow Clearing Update & Notice from Waste Management

02/07/2020

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke Public Works Unit is requesting the cooperation of community members and reminding local contractors or those with pick-up attachments that they should not be placing/pushing snow onto the roads and sidewalks. This only makes for more work and negatively impacts our ability to keep these areas clear for vehicular mobility and public safety during this storm event.

The snow-plowing crews have been working non-stop since last evening to keep our roads open. They are seeking cooperation and exercise patience. The MCK urges that any non-essential traveling should be avoided until the storm ends.

Additionally, the Waste Management Department would like to inform residents that, due to the storm, one of the Garbage Trucks got stuck, and pick-up will be delayed by about one hour today. Also, roads that have not yet been plowed will only receive garbage collection once the roads are cleared.

The Waste Management Department apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience. If you have any questions, please call 450-632-4321.
