Record Water Consumption This Past Weekend
06/09/2008
With the recent high temperatures, Kahnawà:ke’s water filtration plant set a new record output, literally flushing valuable drinking water down the drain.
Running lawn sprinklers all day, draining and refilling swimming pools rather than cleaning them and spraying down asphalt driveways are just a few of the bad habits perpetuated daily.
This behavior creates serious problems – namely diminished capacity for Fire Fighters. The result will be reduced pressures to enable the filtration plant to keep up with demand.
We have a long summer ahead of us – let’s work together to conserve – it just makes sense.
