Victims of Crime Research Project Survey

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Justice Services Division Kahnawà:ke Victims of Crime (KVOC) Research Project is conducting a needs assessment to identify gaps in support services for victims and survivors of crime.

The KVOC Research Project Survey seeks to answer the following questions:

  • Is there a need to develop culturally sensitive victims of crime services in Kahnawà:ke?
  • Whether Kahnawa’kehró:non are informed regarding existing services?
  • Whether Kahnawa’kehró:non victims of crime services are using existing services?
  • Why aren’t Kahnawa’kehró:non victims of crime services using Centre d′Aide aux Victimes d′Actes Criminels (CAVAC) services?

The online survey will be available for two (2) weeks, ending on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Kiosks will be held for in-person surveys this Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 9am to 4pm (Post Office), and Monday, March 9, 2020 from 9am to 4pm (Caisse Populaire). A gift of a Sequoia candle will be given to participants who complete the confidential survey.

Background Information:

Preliminary research results confirmed that the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke is underserviced, and that a culturally sensitive victim support service would balance access to justice.
