MCK officially activates COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that Chief & Council has officially approved the activation of the Emergency Operations Office, known as the COVID-19 Task Force (“The Task Force”), at today’s duly-convened Council meeting.
The Mohawk Council Executive Directive was passed by consensus by the eleven Council members present (five in person, six via teleconference due to being in self-isolation protocol).
The Task Force has been given the full and necessary authority to mitigate all impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community, in accordance with section 14 of the Kahnawà:ke Emergency Preparedness Law, and in conjunction with the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre.
“The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is taking seriously its responsibility as a governing body to take all measures to secure the health and safety of all Kahnawa’kehró:non,” said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton.”
This mandate is effective immediately, will remain in place for 30 days, and is subject to extension, if necessary.
