Garbage and Recycling collection update (contains NEW information)

The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to advise the community on its services at this time. Please read the following carefully:

Transfer Depot is open for material Drop Off:

  • Monday � Saturday 8am � 4pm
  • Please make yourself aware of what is accepted at the Transfer Depot: Metal, batteries, electronics, tires, household hazardous waste, used paints, used motor oil, used antifreeze, used cooking oil, used propane tanks, and brush
  • For additional information, please contact 450-632-4321 or 514-249-0961
The Minimax Recycling truck will operate as usual:
  • Only items placed in the blue bin will be collected- automated collection only
  • Please ensure only recyclable items are placed in the bin, we cannot afford a breakdown due to careless disposal habits.  If you are not sure�call !
  • THERE WILL BE NO SPECIAL COLLECTION until further notice � Household hazardous waste, electronics, paints, etc., can be dropped off at the Transfer Depot.
  • DO NOT PLACE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE OR OTHER SPECIAL COLLECTION ITEMS IN YOUR BLUE BIN.
  • Should you want to drop off cardboard contact 450-632-4321 for drop off instructions
Compost collection will continue its regular schedule:
  • Fruit and vegetable waste, plant clippings, leaves, etc...
  • Our aim is to make a soil amendment safe for food garden use, please ensure there is no dog waste, or other contaminates (plastic pieces and other non-organic materials) in your compost materials.
