Important Notice regarding Tioweroton

The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to discourage Community members from going to Tiower�:ton until further notice due to new measures put in place and the various road conditions in the area.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local police are closely monitoring and, in some cases, preventing travel around the area. Additionally, there are several road closures in and around Tiower�:ton, and it may be difficult to get food and supplies outside of the territory.

In Tiower�:ton itself, the annual spring thaw has created highly unfavorable road conditions. Cars are especially discouraged due to deep ruts in several locations. Should a vehicle get stuck, it may be difficult, if not impossible, to find a tow truck at this time.

The Lands Unit is strongly urging people to stay home for the time being. The Caretakers can be reached at 819-321-3375 (main office).
