Work to stop flooding of Suzanne River
04/08/2020
The MCK Capital Unit is informing the community of work taking place today to reduce flooding of the Suzanne River.
A community member notified the Capital Unit of the flooding and identified the cause as newly constructed beaver dams. The area has a large population of beavers and damming is a constant problem that causes flooding issues for the homeowners.
The MCK Capital Unit has been given the authority by the Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force to clear the beaver dams to lower the water levels. A hydraulic shovel has been dispatched this morning to lower the water levels.
This work will run from the Industrial Park Area of Chateauguay in a north east route up to Route 207
The on-site crew will be practicing COVID-19 physical distancing and sanitization techniques while conducting the operation.
