Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force mandate renewed

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Chief & Council have officially renewed that Mandate for the Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force (“the Task Force”) for an additional thirty (30) days. This action was taken at today’s duly-convened Council meeting and was passed by consensus. The Task Force had been given the full and necessary authority to mitigate all impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on March 16, 2020. The extended Mandate will remain in effect until May 16th and is subject to further extension, if necessary. Additionally, a complimentary Mohawk Council Executive Directive was passed today to establish the authority of the Task Force concerning operational budget via the Commissioner of Public Safety, Lloyd Phillips. Financial spending limits, accountability measures and financial authority are included in this Directive, which was passed by consensus.
