Spring Clean-Up Challenge during pandemic

04/15/2020

The Kahnawą:ke Waste Management Department is pleased to announce a modified Kahnawą:ke Spring Clean-Up Challenge (‘the Challenge’) that takes into consideration the current pandemic.

The Challenge will take place between today (April 15th) until Friday, April 24th. Organizers ask that only members of your individual household participate in the clean-up effort and maintain physical distancing from others at all times.

To get involved, call in to Kahnawą:ke Waste Management (450-632-4321) to choose an area your family household wishes to clean and simply post BEFORE & AFTER photos of the area on the Kahnawą:ke Waste Management Facebook page (@recyclinginkahnawake). Every participant will be entered into a draw to win one of six $50 Mohawk Market gift certificates. You may also email your photos to wastemanagement@mck.ca

All Challenge participants are asked to please take the waste home and place it curbside for regular Friday pick-up.

“We would love to have as many people as possible participate – in a manner that respects the challenging times we are in,” said Kahnawą:ke Waste Management’s Iotshatena:wi Reed. “The Waste Management Department would also like to say thank you to the Eastern Door, who have organized the annual Spring Clean-Up for years but, due to the pandemic, cannot do so this year.”
