UPDATE - Mercier Bridge Drone Survey for Nesting Birds
06/08/2020
As announced on Friday, June 5th, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) will undertake a drone survey beneath the Mercier Bridge on Monday, June 8th, from 7am to 6pm, and Wednesday, June 10th.
However, due to forecasted wind conditions on Wednesday, that drone flight will now take place on tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9th from 7am and 6pm.
This drone survey is required to document and inventory nesting bird species that use the Mercier Bridge during nesting season and to ensure that nests are protected or moved out of harm′s way ahead of this Summer′s planned maintenance work.
Technicians from the MTQ will be conducting this survey under the Quebec portion of the bridge, from the North Wall and over the St. Lawrence River. Kahnawake Environment Protection Office monitors will be present at all times during the work.
The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression.
