Playground Destroyed by Vandals

Vandals destroyed a Community Children�s Playground located at Mohawk Trail over the weekend. All plastic components of the playground were burned. Some metal components survived but are considered useless and will be scrapped.

Damages are estimated to be about $25,000.

According to the Sports and Recreation Unit, there have been several fires at this particular location. A decision will have to be made to replace the equipment, move the park elsewhere, or close the playground altogether.

All but the swings were destroyed in the playground. Due to the excessive amount of damage, the entire area has been closed.
