MCK Housing to Resume Payments

06/22/2020

Due to the economic uncertainties of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) Housing Unit was able to implement deferred payment agreements with several of our clients as a means to assist and support community members through a difficult and challenging time.

With the June 1st Covid-19 Task Force announcement of “return to work” measures and the reopening of several local businesses and industries, many community members have returned to work or are in the process of doing so. As such, the MCK Housing Unit is preparing to resume regular Housing payments beginning July 1st, 2020.

If you deferred your Housing payment due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the MCK Housing unit will be in touch with you to review your file. If you had been a recipient of the Kahnawake Economic Relief Measures (KERM) and are no longer receiving KERM because you have returned to work, your Housing payments will automatically resume for the month of July 2020. If you are still receiving KERM, or have other specific circumstances impacting your file, those will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

If you are a Housing client who deferred payments, you should expect to be contacted by Housing via phone/email during the week of June 22nd, 2020, and will be provided with a process to resume your regular Housing payments. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the MCK Housing Unit at (450) 638-0500.
