Air Quality safe during removal of ACM
07/24/2020
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Public Safety Division wishes to inform the community that tests have been done to monitor the air quality near lots having Asbestos Containing Material (ACM pipes) during the removal process. The lab results have shown the air quality to be safe.
Therefore, workers are not required to wear protective clothing or masks, unless not being able to maintain a 2 metre distance (COVID-19 measure).
The lab who did the study is called S-Air. Testing takes place before and while the work is in progress.
Results are being shared amid concerns over dust during the removal and ensuring worker and community safety.
