Repairs completed at Lift Station

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to advise the community that repairs to the Lift Station located near the Onake Paddling Club/Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre area have been completed and the system is once again operating normally.

Repairs were undertaken after an underground power line was accidentally damaged yesterday afternoon during excavation work.

Though an emergency generator was brought in immediately after the accident, sewage had to be discharged into Recreation Bay for approximately two (2) hours, then diverted into the Seaway.

Community members are asked to continue to avoid using the area for recreational purposes until the Community Health Representatives clear the area for use following water sampling testing.
