Potatoes donated to community – pick up at Knights of Columbus starting at 1pm TODAY
08/14/2020
This morning the Emergency Food Basket, via the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, received a very large and generous donation of surplus russet potatoes from a farming company in New Brunswick. The Food Basket currently has over 6,000 10lbs bags of potatoes to be given away to the community. The potatoes will be distributed free of charge at the Knights of Columbus beginning at 1pm this afternoon until 5pm. Pick-up will be a drive-thru style pick-up in the Knights parking lot. The Food Basket is asking community members to remain in their vehicles, as volunteers will put the bags into their vehicles and to observe all COVID-19 directives (wear masks and observe 2-meter personal distancing). Residents with larger families can pick up to three 10lb bags.
