NAIG Parade Wednesday, Venezuelan Youths to Attend

The parade to commemorate the success of Team Kahnawà:ke has been rescheduled to this Wednesday (20, Seskéha/August) at 5pm. The route will begin at the tunnel, proceed down the Old Malone Highway to the Karonhianohnha intersection, then down Blind Lady’s Hill through to the old village.
A rally will follow at about 5:30pm in the green space between the Golden Age Club and K103 at which the Eastern Door newspaper will present a sportsmanship award to one of the athletes. The community will also get to see, first hand, the Todd Diabo Trophy that was brought back by the wrestling team, and the John Fletcher Award given to Team Eastern Door and the North for sportsmanship.
Community members are urged to come out and show their support, and to say “Nia:wen” for a job well done: Team Eastern Door and the North picked up 86 medals to finish 6th out of the 23 teams that participated. Athletes are asked to meet behind the tunnel at 4:30 pm. prior to the parade, wear their Team Kahnawake outfits and bring their medals.
A group of Venezuelan youth, who will be in Kahnawà:ke as part of a cultural exchange from 20-26 Seskéha/August, will also be present at the rally and will be introduced and welcomed to the community at that time.
