Elder’s Lodge Area Rehabilitation
08/19/2008
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform all Kahnawa’kehró:non of the upcoming project to rehabilitate the Elder’s Lodge Area. The work for this project is scheduled to start on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 and will continue until the end of October 2008.
This project will include repairs to the existing water and sanitary sewer systems, installation of a new surface drainage system and concrete curbs. Upon completion of the previously mentioned works, the road will be resurfaced with new asphalt.
Residents in the area may be inconvenienced with temporary loss of water, dust and noise from trucks and equipment, detours and temporary road closures. Residents will be notified at least one day prior to having the water turned off. Proper road signalization will be installed to warn of the construction limits. The community will also be notified when a road closure is scheduled.
During construction alignment-pins will be installed (steel rods marked with orange ribbon) along the roadway. These pins do not indicate the edge of the new road. The new road edge is five feet from the pin, away from the property line. This means that during construction the roadway will appear wider than actually planned. At no point does the road infringe onto private property.
All private properties that are affected by the work in this area (e.g. driveways, walkways, hedges and/or fences) will be repaired or replaced prior to the completion of the project.
