Essential Snow Removal Program for Elderly and Disabled

The Client-Based Services Unit (CBS) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that the application period is now open for the Essential Snow Removal Program, a service for low income elderly and disabled community members without able-bodied relatives to assist them.
The program will operate from December 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021 and provides access for emergency service personnel by clearing entryways, such as ramps, stairs, and driveways. The program can only accept a limited number of clients and previous clientele must re-apply each year.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non who are on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry, and who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the service:
- A person/couple 65 years of age or older or physically disabled individuals who;
- Lives alone, and has a limited income and little or no extended family;
- Has a serious illness or mobility issue;
- Has no family to look out for their well-being.
Due to covid-19, application forms will not be handed out; all applications MUST be completed through an intake process.

Deadline to apply is Friday, November 13th at 4pm. Applications cannot be accepted after this date.
