MCK meeting with new Quebec Indigenous Affairs Minister

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ratitsénhaienhs Tonya Perron, Ross Montour and Gina Deer are scheduled to meet with the new Quebec Minister Responsible for Aboriginal Affairs Ian Lafrenière tomorrow (Wednesday) via video-conference.
Sonia LeBel, Quebec’s Minister Responsible for Government Administration and Chair of the Conseil du Tresor, will also participate in the meeting. She represents the riding of Champlain, and is the sponsor of Bill 66.
The agenda will consist of addresses from both parties on the Quebec-Kahnawake Relationship, discussion on the MCK’s priorities and issues, and discussion on Bill 66 (Quebec’s economic stimulus legislation, which is of great concern to the MCK).
Mr. Lafrenière, who represents the Vachon riding, was named Minister on October 9, 2020, replacing Sylvie D’Amours.
