Recreation Path Survey community comments
11/06/2020
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to provide additional information to the community following the recent completion of the Recreation Path Survey.
The results were released on October 21, 2020. As part of the survey, there was a section to provide comments, which proved to be very informative and highlighted several concerns with the existing paths. The major concerns were loose dogs, ATV usage, and intersection crossing safety.
The identified concerns have been shared with the Peacekeepers, and the MCK’s Public Safety Division and Public Works Unit. These departments reviewed the comments and determined that they are important and are being taken seriously. A meeting was held on October 28th to discuss these issues at length. Some options were offered but have impacts that need to be researched and evaluated. The goal is to find long-term sustainable solutions while taking all stakeholder’s interests into consideration.
These departments will continue working on the major concerns in order to find workable solutions to make our Recreation Paths safer and more enjoyable for all Kahnawa’kehró:non. The MCK wishes to thank everyone who participated in the survey.
