Groundwater Monitoring Program

09/04/2008

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform all Kahnawa’kehró:non that fieldwork has begun for their yearly Groundwater Monitoring Program at six former dumpsites on the Territory.

KEPO staff, along with consultants from Envir-Eau, will be in the vicinity of these sites for most of September and October. This yearly program is part of an ongoing effort to assess the quality of the groundwater and surface water on and around these sites.

As in the past, KEPO is working with landowners to obtain permission to access these sites. It is hoped that community members will continue to cooperate in this respect so that this important information can be gathered for the health and well-being of the environment and surrounding residents.

If you have any questions or comments about this fieldwork, please do not hesitate to contact Lynn Jacobs, Environmental Advisor / Projects Coordinator at the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office at 635-0600.
