Hydro-Québec Line 2 dismantlement project underway
11/17/2020
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that work to dismantle Hydro-Québec Line 2B is now underway. There are 64 transmission towers, 256 tower bases, and 9 km of line to be removed between now and spring 2021.
Work has begun to clear access roads along Line 2 from Route 207. Work is starting on the line dismantlement east of the 207 this week from 7am to 4:30pm weekdays.
For the week of November 23rd (next week), line dismantlement is scheduled in the area between Route 207 and Highway 138. Please note that the section that crosses over the 207 will be carried out at night to lessen the impact on traffic circulation.
Works will continue throughout the upcoming winter to avoid adverse impact to the wetlands. Because of the dangers involved, hunters are being asked to avoid the area during this time.
The MCK would like to thank the community for their cooperation during this important project.
