Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force – Crossing the Border Black Friday and You
11/26/2020
The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force would like to remind all community members that any person crossing the border MUST quarantine for the mandatory fourteen (14) day period upon return.
This also applies to those returning from work and school in the U.S and those traveling for the American Thanksgiving (and Black Friday) Holiday.
In accordance with the Canada Quarantine Act, this measure is in place to help limit community contact from those who have been outside the country.
“We are asking our residents to be mindful of the inherent risks of traveling outside the territory and country during this very busy holiday shopping season,” said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie.
“If you cross the border, we are asking that you respect the fourteen (14) day quarantine to protect your community and those around you,” added Zacharie.
The Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers are informed by Canada Border Services of individuals who cross the border and will be on alert during this expected high travel weekend.
*Please Note, Changes may be announced regarding the Quarantine Act. Any updates to the “Act” will be communicated to the community.
