Task Force announces outbreak at Turtle Bay Elders Lodge

The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to advise the community that an outbreak has been identified at the Turtle Bay Elder′s Lodge (TBEL) today where two staff members have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Immediate measures are being implemented to ensure the health and safety of the residents and the staff during this outbreak:
- All residents are now in isolation
- Medical assessment is ongoing with immediate testing of any residents with symptoms
- KMHC’s Local Public Health Team has completed contact tracing
- All concerned employee contacts are now in isolation
- Reinforcement of Public Health directives within the TBEL
- Screening of all TBEL staff and residents every 5 days until end of outbreak
In accordance with the Kahnawà:ke Emergency Preparedness Law, as well as public health and safety standards, the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre’s Public Health Unit and medical team will oversee and support the actions being taken to mitigate this emergency medical situation.
