Task Force issues statement regarding Chief Peacekeeper

01/04/2021

The Kahnaw:ke COVID-19 Task Force (Task Force) wishes to inform the community that it has received information regarding a positive COVID-19 test result for one of its members. Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie has confirmed his test results and remains in self-isolation.

With this recent development, the Task Force would like to reassure the community that no other members are experiencing signs or symptoms of the virus or have been in contact with him during a contagious period and follow local health guidelines and regulations.

One positive case in our community is one too many! We are now dealing with several positive cases following the holiday break, said Commissioner of Public Safety, Lloyd Phillips. The events of the past several days should be a stark reminder that we must remain vigilant and follow the restrictions and directives put in place to protect our community, our elders, and most vulnerable. This virus does not discriminate, added Phillips.

The Task Force is reminding the community to follow all current guidelines and directives, Kahnaw:ke 9-1-1 Facebook page, and local media outlets for updates.
