The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force (“Task Force”) would like to remind the community that ALL current COVID-19 measures and restrictions are to be followed while in Tioweró:ton. This includes restrictions on gatherings and visitations.
“There are concerns that some Kahnawa’kehró:non are not respecting the current restrictions on gatherings and visitations,” said Commissioner of Public Safety Lloyd Phillips. “This is not only a violation of the Kahnawà:ke Emergency Preparedness Law; this could have serious repercussions on the health and safety of all Kahnawa’kehró:non, in Tioweró:ton and in Kahnawà:ke.”
With the number of positive COVID-19 cases on the rise in the community, the Task Force is asking all Kahnawa’kehró:non to stay home. If you must leave your home or Kahnawà:ke for essential items, please follow all recommended health and safety measures, restrictions, and protocols.
“On a related note, although Quebec’s upcoming curfew will not be in effect in Kahnawà:ke or Tioweró:ton, Kahnawa’kehró:non may be subject to fines when off the Territory during the curfew hours.”
