Significant snowfall expected Saturday

01/15/2021

The Public Safety Division would like to remind the community to remain vigilant as Environment Canada has issued a Snow Fall Warning for the region.

According to the statement, a significant snowfall is expected on Saturday, with total snowfall amounts reaching 15 to 20 centimeters by Sunday morning.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Snowmobilers should be warned that work on the Hydro-Québec towers is ongoing and caution should be taken in the area of the towers.

Road-users should be prepared to adjust to driving with changing road conditions. Motorists are also advised to ensure to have a roadside kit in case of an emergency.

Please note that weather is always subject to change and all information related to potential upcoming weather is intended to be taken as a warning and to be prepared.

For more information on how to prepare for storms, please visit www.kahnawake.com/beprepared or contact the Public Safety Division at (450) 632-0635.
