Hydro Québec Dismantlement work continues on North Wall section

01/25/2021

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Hydro-Québec Dismantlement work is continuing today on the North Wall section.

The vast majority of Hydro towers in the section from Highway 132 towards Chateauguay have been removed. The small number of towers located across the Seaway are now being prepared for removal. This includes the removal of a number of trees in the area to facilitate the work. Great care is being taken to ensure that the minimum amount of cutting will be done to safely carry out the work. Please note that there is a reforestation plan in place, which can be accessed on the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) website and Facebook page.

Except for certain specialized work, the majority of the work is being carried out by Kahnawà:ke contractors.
