Temporary replacement Ambulance Secured
01/28/2021
The Kahnawà:ke Fire Brigade (KFB) wishes to advise the community that they have secured and put into service a temporary replacement ambulance from Demers Ambulance. This vehicle is replacing the one damaged in a collision on January 18th, in which three paramedics suffered injuries.
The ambulance sustained major damage to the front end while transporting a patient to Anna Laberge Hospital. The three paramedics were transported to hospital and released later that evening. The ambulance will either require substantial repairs to be put back into service, or be replaced altogether.
In the interim, all calls for assistance have been responded to by either the primary ambulance crew or the second ambulance crew in the KFB Command Vehicle. Unfortunately, responding in the Command Vehicle would not allow a patient to be transported to the hospital and another outside ambulance would be called in these instances.
The replacement vehicle is bright yellow, similar to those of the surrounding communities.
Please be assured that at no time was the service delivery of the Kahnawake Fire Brigade interrupted, as contingency plans are in place for situations just like this. Although in a different vehicle, the services provided by our Paramedics remain as professional as always.
