Task Force announces outbreak at Step by Step

The Kahnaw�:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to advise the community that an outbreak has been identified at the Step by Step Child and Family Center (Step by Step) today, where three (3) people have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. This includes the one individual who was an identified positive on Tuesday, February 2nd. 

Immediate measures are being implemented to ensure the health and safety of the children, staff, and their families during this outbreak:

  • All children and their households from classes 1, 2, and 9 have been in isolation since the end of the day, Thursday, February 4th
  • Children and educators from these classes will be screened at the KMHC testing site tomorrow, February 7th.
  • KMHC�s Local Public Health Team has completed contact tracing
  • Reinforcement and further education of Public Health directives within Step by Step and with families will take place in the coming week

In accordance with the Kahnaw�:ke Emergency Preparedness Law, as well as public health and safety standards, the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre�s Public Health Unit and medical team will oversee and support the actions being taken to mitigate this emergency medical situation.

*Please note that the definition of an outbreak is two or more persons who are connected by an epidemiological link.
