Significant Snowfall expected to begin tonight

02/15/2021

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising community members to monitor weather conditions, as snow will develop Monday evening and will intensify overnight and end Tuesday evening.

Snowfall amounts could exceed 15 centimetres in our area. Moreover, winds combined with the snow will give blowing snow over exposed areas Tuesday.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.

Additionally, with snow in the forecast, Kahnawa’kehró:non who ride recreational vehicles are being asked to avoid the area in and around the Hydro Line 2 corridor. Crews are continuing to dismantle the transmission towers and remove soil. The area is not intended for public or recreational use and is not safe for vehicles such as ATVs or snowmobiles.
