Kahnawake Fire Brigade orders new ambulance
02/23/2021
The Kahnawà:ke Fire Brigade (KFB) wishes to inform the community that it has placed an order today for a new ambulance to replace the one that was damaged in an accident last month. It was deemed that it wasn’t feasible to repair the older ambulance and, thus, it was written off.
The new vehicle, a 2022-model Crestline Commander, is expected to be in service by July or August of this year.
“We signed the purchase agreement today,” said KFB Fire Chief David Scott. “We’ve been dealing with Crestline for many years and have been extremely pleased with the performance of their vehicles. We’re very confident that the brand-new vehicle will meet the needs of the KFB and the community.”
The cost of the new ambulance is $231,873.00. Less than $20,000.00 will come from the insurance claim; the remainder will come from contingency funds put aside for such emergencies.
Until the new vehicle enters service the KFB will continue to operate a rented ambulance at a cost of $125 per day.
