Vaccine delivery confirmed – Immunizations to begin March 11th

The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force (Task Force) is pleased to announce that the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccines have been confirmed, and immunizations will be readily available for Kahnawa′kehró:non beginning Thursday, March 11, 2021.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available for those 85 years of age and older, as they are the first priority group to be vaccinated on March 11, 12, and 13. Anyone accompanying and is 70 years of age and older will also be able to be vaccinated. Medical transport will assist homebound elders.

Individuals 70 years and older who are not accompanying those over 85 years of age will receive special consideration for both priority bookings and transport assistance.

Beginning the week of March 15th, the Moderna vaccine is expected to be available for the entire community for those aged 18 years and older. Immunizations will be provided by appointment only at the Vaccination Center located in the Mohawk Super Bingo on Route 138.

“Although there are still many details to finalize, we now have March 11th to work towards getting our community vaccinated,” said Task Force Chair, Lloyd Phillips. “The vaccine is a major piece of the puzzle we’ve been waiting for to help build immunity against the virus.”
