Directive 57.1 Extended Hours of Operation for certain local businesses
03/17/2021
The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to inform the community that Directive 57.1 Business operations to extend hours has been issued.
Effective today, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, local businesses that have been permitted to be open for business since February 1st, 2021, may now extend their operating hours until 9pm.
This is in an effort to support the healthcare establishments (overcrowding in hospitals), the overall impact of the pandemic (number of cases in the surrounding communities), and to not undermine or entice Quebecers from violating their curfew.
All establishments that sell tobacco products must also stop tobacco sales to non-locals at 9pm.
Businesses that must remain closed:
- Restaurants (in house dining rooms)
- Cigar lounges (in house rooms)
- Bars and social clubs
- Gaming establishments
The increased measures that were put in place have proven to slow the spread of the virus within the community. We are asking that the business community remain extra vigilant at ensuring that all health measures are strictly enforced. This includes the enhanced daily health checks of all employees, ensuring that employees stay home when they are sick and are tested when required, and masking, distance, and hygiene.
