The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that it has come to its attention that the Canadian Pacific (CP) Rail crossings at South Texas, Goodleaf/Deer, and Indian Way School were blocked for approximately 25 minutes at 9:15pm on Saturday evening, and again on Sunday morning at 6:30am. There was no notification to Peacekeepers or Emergency Services, which could have created a problem for emergency response.

According to CP, there were two unrelated events. On Saturday evening, a southbound train had a mechanical malfunction, which was repaired by the crew, and the train proceeded. On Sunday morning, a northbound train stopped for the Seaway bridge to open and let a ship through.

CP continues to investigate both events and apologizes to the community for these two unrelated incidents.
