Fieldwork for Nocturnal Owl Survey

04/13/2021

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform the community that it will be conducting a Nocturnal Owl Survey on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 8pm until midnight.

Two groups of KEPO employees will be visiting ten stations on isolated roads throughout the community. They will be broadcasting owl calls at each of the stations as part of the survey. All stations are located away from residences, but please note that dogs may respond to the broadcast calls.

The Nocturnal Owl Survey is a nationwide initiative coordinated by Birds Canada and conducted by volunteers throughout Canada. The surveys are used to monitor the health of the owl population over time. This is KEPO’s second year participating in the survey, and we look forward to reporting our findings back to the community.

For more information, please contact the KEPO at 450-635-0600.
