State of Emergency extended for 13th consecutive month
04/19/2021
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that the current State of Emergency has been extended for an additional period of 30 days.
The Mohawk Council Resolution was passed by Consensus at todays duly-convened Council meeting. As has been standard procedure, the Resolution includes the extension of the Mandate for the Kahnawą:ke COVID-19 Task Force.
This new extension is dated from April 21 to May 21, 2021. The State of Emergency has been in effect since it was initially declared one year ago (on April 21, 2020).
As required by Kahnawą:ke law, the State of Emergency must be renewed on a monthly basis.
These actions have been taken to ensure the protection of Kahnawą:kes jurisdiction while the community addresses all matters related to the on-going pandemic.
